Oh HI, Ojai!

Photo

The boys are the Pac-12 Tournament Champs! This is a huge win for the guys, especially since they were able to take down the Bruins in the finals. For those of you who are completely oblivious to all things Trojan Tennis, this win really makes up for the heartbreaking loss to UCLA last week in the last regular season dual match. The guys are 27-1 overall, and I think the loss to the Bruins at home was JUST the right kind of kick in the butt the boys need to bring home a fourth consequetive national title. If you want more information on the team's success in Ojai, check out usctrojans.com!

Don't you dare forget to congratulate Sabrina Santamaria and Kaitlyn Christian for their win as Pac-12 Doubles Champions! This duo has definitely been doing some WORK out there on the courts!

Memes by DLAO

If you don't know what a meme is... GET WITH IT. They are all over the internet, and you've probably seen one at one point or another. Basically, a meme is a picture taken out of context with some pithy, sassy, funny statement added to it. Really, they are all over the place.

Anyway, Danielle Lao of the women's team spent one long car ride on the 10 freeway (coming home from practicing at the UCLA courts in preparation of a BRUIN BEAT DOWN) making a few memes of her own.. ENJOY

WE LOVE YOU ALI RAMOS!

Today was senior day for our lone ranger, our only senior, Alison Ramos. Ali is the captain for the girl's squad, and if you ask any person who knows her, they will tell you she's got a lot of heart! Ali has been an inspiration to all of the girls, bringing an ALWAYS positive attitude to the courts with enthusiasm galore! She would do anything for this team, and she will be dearly missed next year! Luckily, Ali will still be around SC for some laughter and probably some hitting with next year's team, as she is going to be taking prerequisite courses for physical therapy school right here on campus! The team showered her with flowers and a GIANT picture before today's match!

More pictures to come soon!

So Fierce. So Frosty.

Well the boys woke up to a snowy surprise this morning in Utah. Assitant Coach George Husack said the guys went to bed last night and the weather was cool and calm, and then they woke up to THIS! Luckily, the guys were able to get the match in and pulled out a 5-2 win over the Utes!

Oh boy looks like the boys bring a STORM with them wherever they go... on and OFF the courts! What's next? The guys play Arizona tomorrow at 12:00pm!

FIGHT ON!

What a weekend!

Well the Trojans have done it again. They finished the weekend with FOUR 7-0 wins over the Huskies and the Ducks. Now, the guys and the girls definitely put in some serious effort this weekend, but we've really got to hand it to the coaches. Coach Gallien, for the women's side, hit his 300th win as the Lady Trojans' head coach yesterday against the Ducks. And then today, Coach Smith hit his 200th win against the Ducks today with the guys. The guys and gals would be nothing without their fearless leaders! I suppose it's nice knowing we have more than just stellar athletes at USC... We also happen to have some quite spectacular coaches!

Mr. Holwell is a huge supporter of the tennis program here at USC! He comes to almost every match, and is NEVER afraid to yell at fans for not wearing "their colors." If you come to a USC match, you need to be in CARDINAL AND GOLD! He has been bugging us NON-stop for this video... so Steve.. THIS IS FOR YOU!

BEAT THE HUSKIES!

Img_0625

The boys seem to be enjoying themselves in chilly Washington. They just pulled off a 7-0 win against the Huskies and now have to make the trek to Eugene for their match TOMORROW against the Oregon Ducks.

Do you ever wonder how it feels to BEAT UP ON SOME HUSKIES? Just ask senior and captain Daniel Nguyen...

Fight on Trojans. FIGHT ON!

These ladies are SPICY

Well, they just finished munching on some delicious DUCK with a 7-0 win over Oregon.

With that, I wanted to share this video with you all. Junior, Danielle Lao created this for the Tommy Awards. The Tommy Awards showcase all of the athletic teams, and award some of our most prized athletes. Our VERY OWN ALISON RAMOS is nominated for Female Trojan of the Year. GO ALI!

Pumping up for practice!

Some words of inspiration from coach to the guys before today's practice.

The pressure of bringing another four-peat to the USC athletic program is something the boys are working hard to ignore. Coach Smith's advice to the guys is to focus on their game and not on the pressure. Once you start believing you are the best, you stop trying to get better!

The boys leave for Washington tomorrow for matches against UW and Oregon.

Fight on!

LADY TROJANS: The Mountain Rangers

While we might be experiencing a torrential downpour here in "sunny" California, the ladies are in lovely Colorado to take on the Buffalo! Coming off of an actually competitive 7-0 win against Utah, the Lady Trojans made their trip to the mountains a good one with another big 7-0 win in Boulder.

You can read over the usctrojans.com review of Friday's match here. Today's full match recap should be up in a few hours.

The tennis facility in Boulder is unlike any other in the country. Assistant Coach, West Nott wrote, "Mountains and wide open spaces. One of a kind place to play college tennis."

Perhaps the ladies were inspired by their surroundings. Perhaps they just bought the HEAT. Whatever the case may be... the ladies are coming home big winners!
